I stayed here briefly and received very little assistance with my housing situation. I was advised to search for my own property, despite the circumstances I was facing.
An incident occurred inside the flat where I was staying, leaving me with no option but to leave. While the incident was still under investigation, I received numerous calls from Heather Chambers and another member of staff, Samantha. I found their approach unsympathetic and lacking in understanding of the circumstances I was experiencing.
Despite explaining that I felt unsafe in the area where they were attempting to move me, Heather informed me that the property was my final offer. I explained that the investigation was still ongoing and that I had genuine concerns about my safety. Rather than contacting the other professionals involved to discuss the situation and coordinate appropriate support, I was advised to close my case until further notice, leaving me homeless.
What I found particularly concerning was receiving an email reiterating that the property was my final offer, despite the ongoing investigation and the safety concerns I had raised. I felt that my circumstances were not being properly considered and that closing my case appeared to be more of a priority than working collaboratively with other professionals to establish a safe and suitable housing solution for me and my child.
Neither Heather nor Samantha contacted me to check on my welfare or that of my child following what had happened. I found this particularly disappointing given the seriousness of the situation and the vulnerability of our circumstances.
I would also raise concerns about the lack of overnight security at the building, which added to my concerns about safety.
I would, however, like to acknowledge that my housing officer and the receptionist were understanding and helpful throughout my stay. Their conduct was the positive aspect of my experience, and they are the reason I have given one star rather than no stars.
Overall, based on my experience, I would advise others to carefully consider the level of support they may receive here, particularly if they are experiencing a housing crisis involving safety concerns. I believe there should be greater empathy, better communication and more effective collaboration between staff and other professionals to ensure that vulnerable residents are not left without appropriate support.
